Have you ever sung “This is the day?” This is the day, this is the day, the LORD has made…. Even the newer version – “Today is the day You have made….” does not reflect the context of the original song.
“The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;
the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
This the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:22-24 is a stanza of this hymn of praise which depicts the marvelous way the LORD has turned things upside down. The rejected stone, despised and considered unnecessary by the ‘builders’ is the stone that is required, the Stone upon which every life is to be built.
