Today’s hymn on the theme of God’s Providence is another amazing poem by Annie Johnson Flint. As noted in an earlier post, she also wrote, “He Giveth More Grace.”

I recall this poem framed and hanging on the wall of my parents home in Northeastern Ontario. Occasionally we sang this reminder penned by one whose life radiated a dependence upon God.
God hath not promised skies always blue
Flower strewn pathways, all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labour, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing kindness, undying love.
